**SAND** is The Sandbox Game's native currency and utility [**token**](#user-content-fn-1)[^1]. It is a **fungible** token, meaning it can be exchanged for other tokens of the same type like other cryptocurrencies and fiat (physical) currencies. The SAND token is a medium of exchange that allows for a digital economy to exist in The Sandbox ecosystem for the benefit of creators, players, and owners of various **non-fungible** token types (NFTs) made for use in The Sandbox. An **NFT** is a unique type of token that can not be replaced or exchanged for an equivalent token. It's rarity and utility determine its value. The fee varies based on the blockchain network's congestion when the transaction is "signed." Some exchanges, such as Simplex, allow credit cards for purchases. However, some credit cards restrict cryptocurrency purchases. ### Can I purchase SAND via The Sandbox's dashboard/website? At this time, you can NOT purchase SAND via The Sandbox website. You may connect your third party wallet to your account at The Sandbox and use the cryptocurrencies in your wallet to purchase assets on the website, such as LAND, assets (including equipment and passes), avatars, and Catalysts (to burn when minting NFTs). You can use [The Sandbox Bridge](/jp/owners/tsb-bridge.md) to bridge your SAND between Ethereum (L1) and Polygon (L2) networks on The Sandbox website. All Marketplace transactions completed at The Sandbox website are now done on the Polygon network to reduce gas fees for users. Previously, The Sandbox was only compatible with the Ethereum network. ### When Should I Buy SAND? The value of any token will vary over time. When to buy it is entirely up to you. Please seek advice from an official tax representative within your local jurisdiction. {% endtab %} {% endtabs %} ## How to Claim Your Earned Rewards If you've earned rewards from The Sandbox, you will need to follow the steps below to claim them. {% hint style="info" %} If the claim was on the Polygon network, there's a chance the transaction will be completed without a gas fee, provided you have some free transactions remaining for the month. See your [**Blockchain Settings**](https://www.sandbox.game/ja/me/settings/chain/) to activate the **Gasless transactions** option, which will indicate how many gasless transactions you have left in the current period. There you can also activate the **Gas fees in SAND** option to pay your gas fee in SAND instead of the POL cryptocurrency. {% endhint %} {% tabs %} {% tab title="Step 1" %} ### Step 1: **Go to the reward claiming page** Log into your account on The Sandbox. Click on your username and select the **Claims** option in the menu. To check if you have this feature enabled or how many gasless transactions you have remaining, click on your username and select Settings from the menu. Once there, select the Wallet tab on the left.
