About The Sandbox
The company was founded as Pixowl in 2011 by Arthur Madrid, the CEO, and Sébastien Borget, the COO. It became The Sandbox when acquired by Animoca Brands in 2018 to launch a 3D blochain-based vision for the series.
We have offices and remote staff operating from all over the world, including France, Argentina, Korea, Japan, United Kingdom, United States, and more, with headquarters based in Hong Kong.
Prior to joining the Animoca family, Pixowl developed many games, with over 40 million downloads.

Within three to five years of launch, The Sandbox plans to grow to ten million global users. Within ten years, we aim to grow to one-hundred million global users.
The goal is to become fully decentralised within five years of release, with 100% of The Sandbox Game's native currency, SAND, owned by the players while The Sandbox continues developing the platform.
SAND holders will be able to participate in the governance of the platform using a DAO structure, where they can exercise voting rights in key elements of the platform. This will progressively remove the company's control from the platform and give that control to the token holders.
