Alpha Season 4 took place over ten weeks and featured over 100 unique experiences. Each day, a new experience (or sometimes several) launched.
The Alpha Hub is a social gathering spot that remained open for the full duration of the season. It's a jam-packed wonderland with immersive areas and many top brand partners. Players started their journey here, hanging out with friends, pressing ENTER
to chat with players or ambassadors there to help.
Players interacted with characters and content in the Alpha Hub for tips and tricks to guide their season journey and earn their first Ethos Points through quests.
Players were encouraged to revisit the Alpha Hub weekly to unlock gated areas with NFT passes to claim rewards.
The player's journey through Alpha Season 4 was tracked within the Battle Pass, with 30 exciting levels to conquer. Completing each level granted a unique reward, including SAND and different types of NFTs.
15 of the levels had free rewards for all players, while the remaining 15 levels had rewards exclusively for Alpha Pass holders. Battle Pass could be accessed both within the game client and on the web dashboard starting October 9 at 12pm UTC, when Alpha Season 4 launched.
Each Battle Pass level the player reached during Alpha Season 4 unlocked a reward, like SAND or exclusive NFTs. Some of these rewards were exclusive and could only be unlocked if the player owned an Alpha Pass!
The Alpha Pass earned the owner additional SAND within the Battle Pass and granted 10 Partner Pass NFTs that provided access to exclusive gated areas within experiences. This gated content contained special quests that unlocked bonus SAND and Ethos Points (allowing players to level up faster).
Alpha Pass holders were able to earn 13x more SAND by progressing through the Battle Pass vs non-holders.
Marketplace Purchase
Players could buy ONE Alpha Pass from The Sandbox Marketplace for 25 SAND.
Weekly Leaderboard Raffle
Players could win ONE Alpha Pass as one of 500 weekly raffle winners selected based on EP rankings. The more EP earned, the higher the player's chance of winning!
Social Giveaways
There were Alpha Pass giveaways throughout Alpha Season 4 via The Sandbox social media channels and livestreams, as well as social channels of Alpha Season 4 partners.
As with previous seasons, playing and progressing in Alpha Season 4 revolved around the collection of Ethos Points, or EP. Gathering EP allowed players to level up their Battle Pass (and unlock rewards!).
Players could earn EP in several ways. The primary one is simply by playing and completing the different types of quests across all season experiences. There were three types of quests within Alpha Season 4:
Normal Quests (yellow) 1-5 EP
Hardcore Quests (purple) 15 EP
Adventure Quests (blue) 20 EP
Once a player earned a certain amount of EP, they progressed to the next level in the Battle Pass. Completing level 1 required 10 EP, level 2 required 15 EP, and so on, up to level 30 (with 3,375 EP!).
EP was used to determine your place on the season leaderboard. The more EP the player had, the higher they climbed, and the more chances they had each week to win an Alpha Pass via the leaderboard raffle!
While completing quests within season experiences were the primary way to collect EP, Alpha Season 4 also introduced other powerful ways to gain bonus EP and level up even faster.
Players maximized their EP with Experience of the Day and the Social Challenges. These reset daily. Once reset, players could not go back to complete them, so they were encouraged to complete them each day.
Players could earn large amounts of bonus EP to level up faster and get more rewards daily!
Experience of the Day
Each day when a new experience was released, it became the Experience of the Day for the first 24 hours it was live.
Bonus
Completing an Experience while it was the Experience of the Day earned a bonus 15 EP.
Multi-Release Day Bonuses
On days when multiple experiences were released, there were 10 bonus EP available for each experience. How To Players were referred to The Sandbox website to see the Daily Challenge and time remaining to complete it in the Alpha Season 4 dashboard.
Bonus
Players earned 25 additional EP for each social challenge completed. It really added up! How To Players were able to connect their X.com account to The Sandbox to complete their post with one click directly from the dashboard. NOTE: Players were required to add their unique social account handle in their Profile at The Sandbox to participate in social challenges.
Players earned bonus EP for inviting friends to play Alpha Season 4! For each friend that reached Level 1 in the Battle Pass, a player received an extra 50 EP (up to a max of 10 friends). This was able to stack up to 500 EP with the friend referral system!
How To
The player's unique referral link was provided on the Summary page of the Alpha Season 4 dashboard on the website.
Avatar owners passively earned bonus EP weekly based on the rarest avatar in their connected wallet!
If the player owned multiple avatars of different rarities, they only earn EP from the rarest avatar they owned.
The weekly bonus EP for avatar ownership was distributed every Tuesday at 2pm UTC.
Players could purchase an avatar in the Avatar Shop to start earning passive EP during the season!
Certain experiences in Alpha Season 4 had a Premium Area that was NFT-gated and contained Premium Quests. On average, each Premium Area contained around five quests (however, it ranged from two to eight depending on the experience).
Quests inside the Premium Areas were considered βNormalβ quests (yellow exclamation mark) but rewarded more EP than Normal quests found outside of Premium Areas (five EP inside, one EP outside).
To access these areas, you either needed a Partner Key NFT or a Category Key NFT.
Partner Keys
Players could buy a Partner Key on The Sandbox Marketplace on the first day of Alpha Season 4 for 5 SAND and could expect to earn up to 30 bonus EP per key if they completed all the quests unlocked.
Partner Keys unlocked access to the Premium Area inside the experiences of that Partner. For example, the βUbisoft Partner Keyβ unlocked access to the Premium Area inside the Captain Lazerhawk experience and the Rabbids experience.
Category Keys
Players could buy Category Keys on The Sandbox Marketplace on the first day of Alpha Season 4 for 20 SAND and expect to earn up to 300 bonus EP per key if they completed all its unlocked quests.
Category Keys unlocked access to Premium Areas inside all experiences that fell into a specific category. Each category included nine to ten experiences.
10 Categories:
Art, Culture, Entertainment, Fashion/Luxury, Gaming: Action, Gaming: Management, Gaming: Party Games, Lifestyle, Music, and Sports.
Alpha Season 4 was filled with incredible rewards, with a SAND reward pool worth over $2.5 million USD and 170+ exclusive NFTs β from space-themed NFTs to passes, wearables, equipment, and more. Discover more about the rewards from Alpha Season 4 below.

LAND owners had the opportunity to earn 80 SAND based on the collective EP gained by the community (more on this below).
A Final Raffle was held on the last day of the season, in which 500 winners were rewarded with 1,000 SAND each. As with the Weekly Leaderboard Raffle for Alpha Passes, the number of entries the player had in the Final Raffle was based on their leaderboard rank (i.e. how much total EP they earned throughout the entire season).
Space Helmets
Players could receive up to two space helmet NFTs during Alpha Season 4.
Gold Space Helmet: Eligible for players who pre-registered ahead of Alpha Season 4 received the Gold Space Helmet NFT in their claim section on the first day of the season. This NFT was no longer available after the season launched.
White Space Helmet: All players who either created an account or logged in during Alpha Season 4 was able to claim this NFT in their claim section for the duration of the season. This NFT was no longer available after the season ended.
Battle Pass NFTs
There were 20 NFTs players could earn by progressing through the Battle Pass (10 available to all players and 10 only for Alpha Pass holders).
10 exclusive equipment NFTs, each in collaboration with a unique top brand partner, were available to all players within the Battle Pass. These equipment NFTs were able to be worn and used in-game.
10 Partner Pass NFTs, each also in collaboration with a unique top brand partner, were available only to Alpha Pass holders within the Battle Pass. Each Partner Pass NFT unlocked access to a gated area within the relevant Partnerβs experience(s). This gated content contained special quests that unlocked bonus SAND and Ethos Points (allowing you to level up faster)
Adventure Quest NFTs
Not only did Adventure Quests grant the most Ethos Points of any quest type (20 EP each!), players were also rewarded with special branded NFTs by completing the Adventure Quests available across the 40 partner experiences of Alpha Season 4! Like the equipment NFTs granted within the Battle Pass, the NFTs rewarded from Adventure Quests were also able to be worn and used in-game. Players looked for quests marked with a blue β!β in-game to start their adventure and unlock special rewards.
Marketplace NFTs
110 Partner NFTs from 40 brand partner collections were available for sale during Alpha Season 4 in very limited quantities. Each collection was released the day their associated experience went live and could be purchased in The Sandbox Marketplace! Many of the collections were designed as part of a set to match the branded NFTs rewarded in the Battle Pass and by Adventure Quests.
LAND owners earned bonus rewards based on the Ethos Points gained by the community as a whole during Alpha Season 4. There were four community milestones between 125K to 500K collective EP, and when each was reached, LAND owners were able to claim LAND Owner Hub Pass NFTs that unlocked access to special rooms in the Alpha Hub. Each room held a SAND Chest with 20 SAND, meaning LAND owners could earn up to an additional 80 SAND throughout the season.
