πŸ”ΉModeler

Use the VoxEdit Modeler to create Simple Entities, or Models, in The Sandbox. These can be used in Compound and Animated Entities using the Animator.

What Can I Make?

The Modeler is used to create Simple Entities, which is a type of Asset. These can be used on their own or as component Models that make up Compound or Animated Entities created in the Animator.

If voxels are the atoms that make up everything in The Sandbox and Blocks are the terrain, Entities are the physical objects in the world.

  • The artist who creates an Entity decides its scale, colours (including emissive), and its Attributes, which indicate how rare it is and how it can vary standard gameplay.

  • Level designers place Entities in the world as individual custimisable Objects and apply plug and play logic for interactive play. They set each unique Object's visibility, collisions, and gravity settings (whether the Entity is anchored in place or movable with a simple physics system).

How Does it Work?

Creating with the Modeler is as simple as defining the model's volume, adding voxels to the volume, and applying colour from the customisable Colour Palette.

To select, create, paint, and erase voxels, choose a Mode. Then choose a Tool as your brush type and left click within the volume in the Viewport. View examples of Mode and Tool Combinations to see how it works!

Top Bar Buttons allow you to define and trim the volume, flip it, turn on mirror tools, and rotate your model. VoxEdit's Block Editor and Modeler also include edges modes to make it easier to see each voxel to create patterns and precise details.

Models can be simple, static Assets or be used as part of a rig in the Animator. In this way, you can reuse Models for multiple projects.

How Do I Use My Creation?

Once your model is ready, you can upload it to your Workspace, add details to describe it, set rarity, and give it attributes to define how it will be uniquely useful in The Sandbox Game. Then it's ready to test in Game Maker!
